My name is Dave Clark and I am a writer. It is not just what I do, but who I am. I left my home in Jackson, Michigan, when I was 17 and followed the song to Nashville, Tennessee. I wouldn’t wish those early years on anyone, but I am richer for the lessons time has taught me.

 

I've been writing songs professionally for 40 years. Although the business of music has changed significantly during that time, what has remained constant from the very beginning is that it still begins with a great song.

 

The actual process of writing also looks remarkably similar in many respects to what it did in those early years. Songwriters are still driven by ideas and passionate in their pursuit to change the world with a song. I'm excited to share the principles and techniques that have served me well all these years through my Song Steps program and share my love of through my Song Stories.
