Recorded by the Speer Family. Back in the 80s I traveled several years with the Speers as a guitar player. One weekend that stands out in my mind was when Brock and Faye’s daughter needed to have surgery. Faye went home a day early to be with her but Brock stayed and finished the weekend. I remember him saying that as a dad, he just felt like he should be able to do something…yet he felt helpless. The empathy I felt for him led to this song.
